How is soy margarine made?
Ingredients
* Soybeans
* Water
* Vegetable oil
* Salt
* Emulsifiers
* Preservatives
* Artificial flavor
* Color
Process
1. soybeans are cleaned and dehulled.
2. The soybeans are cooked and mashed into a pulp.
3. The pulp is mixed with water to create a soy milk.
4. The soy milk is filtered to remove any solids.
5. The soy milk is heated and added to vegetable oil, salt, emulsifiers, preservatives, artificial flavor, and color.
6. The mixture is churned until it thickens and forms margarine.
7. The margarine is packaged and sold.
Note
- The process of making soy margarine is similar to the process of making traditional margarine, except that soy margarine uses soybean oil instead of animal fat.
