How to Boil Frozen Corn on the Cob

Corn on the cob is a barbecue and summertime favorite for many people. It can be prepared in a variety of ways, but is most often boiled or roasted whole on a grill. Fresh corn, unfortunately, is not available year-round in some parts of the country. However, you can generally find frozen ears of corn at your local grocer. You can prepare the frozen corn cobs in essentially the same way you would prepare fresh corn, with a few minor adjustments.

Things You'll Need

  • Frozen corn on the cob
  • Large stock pot
  • Water
  • Tongs
  • Salt (optional)
  • Butter (optional)
  • Tin foil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Put the desired number of corn ears in a large pot. Fill the pot with enough water to completely cover the ears.

  2. Place the pot on the stove and bring the water to a boil. Allow the ears of corn to boil for 9 to 10 minutes. You can add salt to the boiling water to season the corn, if desired.

  3. Remove the corn from the boiling water with tongs and drain well before serving. You can further season the corn with a sprinkle of salt and serve it with butter and black pepper. Keep the corn hot by tenting it with tin foil until you are ready to serve it.
