What country originated the sandwich?
The sandwich is believed to have originated in England, specifically attributed to John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, in the 18th century.
While the exact origins are disputed, the story goes that the Earl, known for his gambling habits, requested a meal that could be eaten without interrupting his card game. He asked for a slice of roast beef placed between two slices of bread.
This convenient and portable meal soon became popular among other card players, and the "sandwich" was born!
