What does a lamprey eat?

A lamprey is a type of jawless fish that feeds on the blood of other animals. They are found in both freshwater and saltwater environments, and there are over 30 different species of lamprey. Lampreys have a unique feeding mechanism that involves using their sharp teeth to attach themselves to the body of their prey and then rasping away the skin and muscle tissue to access the blood. Some lampreys are parasitic and feed on fish, while others are non-parasitic and feed on other aquatic animals such as insects, worms, and crustaceans.
