Can you still eat wormy apples?

While it may not be aesthetically pleasing, eating apples with worms is generally safe. The worms, commonly known as apple maggots, are larvae of the apple maggot fly, and they do not pose any health risks to humans.

These worms primarily feed on the apple's flesh but avoid the core and seeds. Therefore, if you come across an apple with a worm, you can simply cut out the affected area and consume the rest of the fruit.

As a safety measure, it's always advisable to thoroughly wash and inspect apples before eating them, regardless of whether you suspect the presence of worms. This helps remove any surface dirt, bacteria, or potential pesticides.
