HOW TO MAKE RICE PILAF?
Ingredients:
* 1 cup basmati rice
* 2 tablespoons olive oil
* 1/2 onion, chopped
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
* 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
* 1/4 cup chopped almonds
* Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1.) In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
2.) Add the rice to the saucepan and stir to coat in the oil. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the rice is toasted and fragrant.
3.) Add the chicken broth, parsley, almonds, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 18 minutes.
4.) Remove the saucepan from the heat and let stand for 5 minutes before fluffing the rice with a fork. Serve immediately.
Tips:
* To make the rice pilaf more flavorful, use homemade chicken broth instead of store-bought.
* If you don't have basmati rice, you can use any long-grain white rice.
* For a vegetarian version, omit the chicken broth and use vegetable broth instead.
* Rice pilaf is a great side dish for roasted meats, fish, or chicken. It can also be served as a main course.
