Are grapes with white mold safe to eat?
It depends on the type of white mold. Some types of white mold, such as Botrytis cinerea, are beneficial and can actually enhance the flavor of grapes. This type of mold is commonly used in the production of certain sweet wines, such as Sauternes. However, other types of white mold can be harmful and can cause spoilage or contamination of the fruit. If you are unsure about the type of mold on your grapes, it is best to err on the side of caution and discard them.
