How to Cook Deer Chops

Deer meat is commonly referred to as venison. This meat is much leaner than the meat that comes from a cow. It is also much cheaper if you are a hunter and you hunt down your own deer meat during hunting season. A butcher can carve the deer meat up for you. When you come home with some deer chops you may want to find a recipe that will bring out the most flavor. Marinating your deer chops in this recipe will give you a tender and delicious piece of meat for some fine dining.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 deer chops 3/4-inch thick
  • Large freezer bags
  • 1/4 cup of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 1/4 onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil
  • Dash of salt
  • Dash of pepper
  • Frying pan

Instructions

  1. Place your deer chops in a large plastic freezer bag. Keep the bag open so you can add your ingredients for the marinade.

  2. Pour the Worcestershire sauce and the extra virgin olive oil in the freezer bag.

  3. Add the garlic, onion, salt and pepper. Close the zipper on the bag. Mix the ingredients around by shaking the bag up and down and left to right. The mix will now cover every side of the two deer chops.

  4. Set the bags of deer chops in the refrigerator for 4 to 6 hours before you plan on cooking them. You may want to prepare them in the morning and leave them in the refrigerator until you are set to cook dinner.

  5. Place a frying pan on your stove and add a little bit of oil to the bottom of the pan. Heat the oil on the medium heat setting.

  6. Place the chops in the frying pan and cook for 5 minutes before flipping. Cook another 5 minutes and you are done. If you like your chops well done, you may want to add another 3 to 5 minutes cooking time per side.
