How to Freeze a Smoked Turkey
A smoked turkey can provide a large and delicious meal to feed many people. As a result of the big portions of meat that a turkey produces, there are often leftovers. Turkey meat typically should be eaten within three days of cooking. Smoked turkey meat, however, just like nonsmoked turkey, can be kept frozen for as long as 6 months. Freezing smoked turkey meat, therefore, is a useful trick that will allow you to save the meat for a later time.
Things You'll Need
- Smoked turkey
- Knife
- Cutting board
- Plastic containers
Instructions
-
Cut the leftover turkey meat into smaller strips using the knife and cutting board. Make sure the cutting board is clean before you use it. If it is not, rinse it with soap and water before using.
-
Put the strips of turkey in a plastic container and seal the lid tightly. You may need to use more than one container if there is a substantial amount of meat.
-
Put the containers in the freezer. When you're ready to eat the turkey, remove the containers from the freezer and allow them to thaw in the refrigerator before reheating.
