Can you make ravioli from shop bought fresh pasta?
Ingredients:
- 1 pack of fresh pasta sheets (store-bought or homemade)
- Ricotta cheese (or cream cheese)
- Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
- Salt and pepper
- Egg
- Olive oil
- Marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
Recipe:
1. Prepare the Filling:
- In a large bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, salt, and pepper until well combined.
2. Get the Pasta Sheets:
- Lay the fresh pasta sheets on a flat surface.
3. Assemble the Ravioli:
- Place 1 tablespoon of the filling in the center of each pasta sheet.
- Fold the pasta sheet over the filling and press the edges together to form a rectangle.
- Repeat with the remaining pasta sheets and filling.
4. Seal and Cut the Ravioli:
- Dip a finger or pastry brush into the beaten egg.
- Lightly brush the edges of the pasta sheets to help seal the ravioli.
- Use a sharp knife or pasta cutter to cut the ravioli into squares.
5. Cook the Ravioli:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Carefully add the ravioli and cook for about 3-4 minutes or until they float to the surface.
6. Prepare the Sauce:
- Heat some olive oil in a pan.
- Add the marinara sauce and simmer for a few minutes to warm it.
7. Serve the Ravioli:
- Drain the ravioli and immediately add them to the warm marinara sauce.
- Stir gently to combine.
- Serve the ravioli with grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese and fresh herbs, such as basil or parsley.
