How long can raw ribs and chicken stay in marinade. I kept ice on it yesterday but melt.?
The general rule of thumb for marinating raw meats is:
- Refrigerator: 30 minutes to 24 hours
- At room temperature: 30 minutes to 1 hour
It's important to keep the meat in the refrigerator or on ice to prevent bacterial growth. If you're marinating the meat for longer than 24 hours, it's best to freeze it.
Here are some additional tips for marinating meat:
- Use a non-reactive container, such as glass, ceramic, or stainless steel.
- Avoid using metal containers, as they can react with the marinade and alter the flavor of the meat.
- Make sure the marinade completely covers the meat.
- Flip the meat over halfway through the marinating time to ensure even flavor distribution.
- Discard the marinade after use. Do not reuse it, as it may contain harmful bacteria.
