How to Cook a Pork Rib Sandwich

A pork rib sandwich is a simple, stick-to-your-ribs kind of meal. Slow-roast racks of ribs in the oven until tender, then remove the meat from the bones to create a savory sandwich. Pork rib sandwiches can be made with baby back ribs, which are tender and lean, as well as the richer, fattier and more flavorful spare ribs. Slowly simmer beans on the stove top while the racks cook or whip up a batch of coleslaw for a well-rounded supper.

Things You'll Need

  • Seasonings
  • Aluminum foil
  • Baking sheet

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Create a dry rub for your ribs using seasonings such as salt and pepper, coriander, cayenne pepper, dried mustard or brown sugar. Apply the seasoning to both sides of the ribs, gently patting it into the meat.

  3. Wrap the seasoned ribs in aluminum foil, one rack per packet, and place on a baking sheet. Bake in the oven until the ribs are tender, but not falling off the bone, approximately 2 hours for baby back ribs and 3 hours for spare ribs. Remove the ribs from the oven and let cool.

  4. Cut the meat away from the ribs and shred into smaller pieces. Apply more seasoning, to taste, or coat in your favorite barbecue sauce. Pile the shredded rib meat on a bun and serve with a side of coleslaw.
