How long can lunch meat sit out?
Lunch meat can only sit out for two hours at room temperature. After two hours, the bacteria in the lunch meat will start to multiply and the meat will become unsafe to eat.
To keep lunch meat safe, it is important to refrigerate it at all times. If you are planning to take lunch meat with you on the go, pack it in a cooler with ice or freeze packs. You can also store lunch meat in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
If you are not sure if lunch meat is still good, there are a few things you can look for. First, check the expiration date on the package. If the meat is past its expiration date, it should not be eaten. Second, look at the color of the meat. If it is dull or has any discoloration, it should not be eaten. Third, smell the meat. If it has a sour or off smell, it should not be eaten.
Eating spoiled lunch meat can cause food poisoning, which can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, and other symptoms. If you think you have eaten spoiled lunch meat, it is important to see a doctor immediately.
