Is it safe to roast marshmallows over a gas fire?

Roasting marshmallows directly over a gas fire can be unsafe due to the potential of the marshmallows catching fire. The open flame of a gas stove or outdoor gas fire can produce high heat and direct exposure can quickly turn marshmallows into a burnt, charred mess. In addition, the excessive heat can cause unpredictable flare-ups and lead to burns or a possible fire hazard. It's recommended to use designated marshmallow roasting sticks, preferably long-handled ones, to maintain a safe distance from the heat source while roasting marshmallows, whether it's over a campfire or a specialized gas-fueled marshmallow roasting device.
