What is a gully kitchen?
A gully kitchen (also known as an outside kitchen, bush kitchen, or summer kitchen) is a traditional outdoor cooking area commonly found in the backyards of Australian or New Zealand homes. In essence, it’s a separate kitchen located apart from the house’s main indoor kitchen.
Typically built on an outside patio or elevated structure with roofing, gully kitchens feature cooking, food preparation, and clean-up facilities, including appliances like electric hot plates, cooktops, or barbecues and sinks – all under their own roof.
