Can you use a barbecue coal for hookah?
It is generally not advisable to use barbecue coal for hookah smoking. There are several reasons why this is not recommended:
Health Risks: Barbecue coals are designed for cooking and not for smoking. They are typically made from charcoal or other combustible materials that can release harmful chemicals when burned, such as carbon monoxide and other toxins. Inhaling these fumes can be detrimental to your health and may lead to respiratory issues or other adverse effects.
Ash Production: Barbecue coals produce a significant amount of ash when burned. This ash can clog the hookah's hose, making it difficult to draw smoke. Additionally, the ash can fall into the water base, contaminating the water and affecting the taste of the smoke.
Heat Output: Barbecue coals burn at a much higher temperature compared to hookah coals specifically designed for smoking. This can scorch the tobacco or shisha, resulting in a harsh and unpleasant smoking experience.
Ignition and Burn Time: Barbecue coals require a longer ignition time and burn for an extended period compared to hookah coals. This can make it difficult to control the heat and maintain a consistent smoking session.
Chemical Additives: Some barbecue coals may contain chemical additives or accelerants to enhance their burning properties. These additives can release additional harmful fumes when burned and should not be used in a hookah.
For a safe and enjoyable hookah smoking experience, it is advisable to use hookah coals specifically designed for this purpose. These coals are made from natural materials, burn at a controlled temperature, and produce minimal ash and harmful emissions. They are also designed to provide a consistent heat output, ensuring a pleasurable and flavorful smoking session.
