Plecos, or Plecostomus, are tropical freshwater fish that typically require water temperatures between 72 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit (22 to 30 degrees Celsius). They are not suited to cold water environments and may become stressed, ill, or even die if kept in water temperatures below 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 degrees Celsius).
