How to Make Crock-Pot Boston Baked Beans (3 Steps)

Anyone who doesn't like baked beans just can't be American. Serves eight as a hearty side dish. Or just have them on toast for dinner.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 lb. navy beans
  • 2 medium onions - chopped
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 1/3 c. ketchup
  • 1/4 lb. diced bacon
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • Groceries
  • Crock-Pots
  • Saucepans

Instructions

  1. Place beans in a pot with 6 c. water; bring to a boil and then simmer for 30 minutes. Let stand, covered, for 1 1/2 hours, or until softened. Drain.

  2. Place beans, onion, brown sugar, molasses, ketchup, bacon, salt, dry mustard and pepper into a slow cooker. Add 1 c. of water and stir to blend.

  3. Cover pot and cook on low heat for 10 to 12 hours (or high heat for 5 to 6 hours), stirring occasionally.
