How long do you cook a 10lb chicken in the oven?
You can't cook a 10lb chicken in the oven! That's way too big. A whole chicken typically weighs around 3-5 pounds.
Here's a general guideline for roasting a whole chicken:
Roasting time:
* 3-4 pounds: 1 1/2 - 2 hours
* 4-5 pounds: 2 - 2 1/2 hours
* 5-6 pounds: 2 1/2 - 3 hours
Important notes:
* Temperature: Roast at 325°F (160°C).
* Internal temperature: The chicken is done when the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
* Resting: Let the chicken rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.
If you have a smaller chicken, you can adjust the cooking time accordingly.
