How can you sex grown guinea fowl?

There are a few ways to determine the gender of a grown guinea fowl.

1. Size. Male guinea fowl are generally larger than females. They typically weigh between 2 and 3.5 pounds, while females weigh between 1.5 and 2.5 pounds.

2. Coloration. Male guinea fowl have brighter, more vibrant plumage than females. Their feathers may be a deep blue, green, or purple, while females' feathers are usually a duller brown or gray.

3. Head shape. Male guinea fowl have larger, more rounded heads than females. Their beaks are also slightly longer and thicker than those of females.

4. Wattles. The wattles (the fleshy appendages on the neck) of male guinea fowl are larger and more prominent than those of females.

5. Spurs. The spurs (the sharp points on the back of the legs) of male guinea fowl are longer and sharper than those of females.

6. Sound. Male guinea fowl have a loud, harsh call, while females have a softer, more melodious call.

Of course, these are just general rules of thumb. Some guinea fowl may not conform to these patterns. If you're not sure whether a guinea fowl is male or female, you can always take it to a veterinarian for a sexing.
