Are you allowed to eat pizza during Passover?
Pizza is typically not eaten during the Jewish holiday of Passover. This is primarily because pizza dough contains yeast, which is one of five grains expressly forbidden during the holiday. According to Jewish law, eating leavened bread (containing yeast) or leavened grain products is prohibited. During the week of Passover, even minute quantities of yeast are strictly prohibited. Unleavened bread, often referred to as Matzah, is customarily consumed instead of leavened products.
Although pizza dough is mostly wheat-based, it is acceptable to make pizza dishes using Matzah during Passover. Matzah pizza, prepared using Matzah as the base, and topped with kosher for Passover ingredients like sauce, veggies, and meat/dairy substitutes allowed during the holiday, is a common alternative.
