What ia a tradition?
Tradition is something passed on or established through generations of people; thus, a tradition has both a temporal (time) and social dimension. This could include a specific ritual or ceremony, as well as a particular belief, a way of doing things, a cultural pattern (of behavior, thought or action), or it may be a custom or belief specific to a particular geographic region or group of people.
As a general concept, "Tradition" is synonymous with the ideas of transmission and continuity. However, it is often associated with the idea of conservatism or respect for the past. As a consequence, traditions are sometimes presented in opposition to progress, although this is not necessarily the case. Traditions may also be seen as sources of wisdom, as they can provide solutions to problems that have been encountered in the past; or they may be cherished as a way of defining a group's identity.
