How to Make a Seven and Seven (9 Steps)

With an easy-to-remember name that's even easy to say when you're a bit tipsy, 7 and 7 is the go-to cocktail for whiskey neophytes. Although the drink doesn't have much mystique, its liquor -- Seagram's 7 Crown -- has an interesting history. Originally distilled by Seagram Company Ltd., Seagram's 7 was a true Canadian whiskey. But things changed when its parent company dissolved. Indiana-based Lawrenceburg Distillers, Inc. has bottled it since 2010, after London-based Diageo purchased the brand. Made with Canadian whiskey, bottled in America and owned by a British company, you can truly say 7 and 7 is a world drink.

Things You'll Need

  • Highball glass

Classic

  1. Fill a highball glass with ice.

  2. Pour 1 part Seagram's 7 Crown whiskey over the ice.

  3. Top off the ice with 7UP. Cut a vertical slit in a lemon wedge and slide it onto the rim of the glass to garnish.

Flaming 7 and 7

  1. Pour a measured 2-ounce shot of Seagram's 7 Crown whiskey in a double shot glass. Cap the Seagram's 7 bottle and set it away from the shot glass.

  2. Fill a highball glass with ice to 2 inches below the rim. Top off the ice with 7UP.

  3. Ignite the Seagram's 7 using a safety lighter. Grasp the bottom of the glass and pour the flaming Seagram's in the highball. The flame will extinguish on contact.

7 on 7

  1. Fill a highball glass with ice.

  2. Pour 1 part Seagram's 7, Seagram's 7 Crown Cherry Stone whiskey or Seagram's 7 Crown Dark Honey whiskey over the ice.

  3. Pour 1 part 7UP in the highball glass. Garnish with a lemon or lime wedge.
