How to Prevent Pie Crust Edges From Burning (5 Steps)
A pie crust can burn easily because the it's not covered with pie filling, which helps keep the baking temperature even. You can prevent the crust from burning by covering it with aluminum foil. This will keep the heat from directly contacting the outer crust, which will give the entire pie an even golden brown.
Things You'll Need
- Aluminum foil
- Permanent marker
- Scissors
Instructions
-
-
1
Lay a sheet of aluminum foil three to four inches larger than the pie on a flat surface.
-
2
Turn an empty pie pan over on the foil. Trace it onto the pie with a permanent marker.
-
3
Cut out the circle from the aluminum foil. Cut it so that the marker remains on the circle so that you do not transfer it onto the pie.
-
4
Bake the pie in the oven for 15 minutes.
-
5
Center the hole you cut out from the foil over the pie. Fold the foil down over the pie edges. Continue to bake the pie.
