How to Make Homemade Hot Chocolate Fudge Sauce from Scratch

This hot fudge sauce is thick, fudgy, rich, inexpensive and easy to make. This recipe makes about 5 1/2 cups. It can also last for a while. Place any unused finished sauce in a glass jar and store it in a refrigerator. After just a few seconds in a microwave, the hot fudge will be warm enough to use over a dessert or as a dip.

Things You'll Need

  • 12 oz. semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butter
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 2 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • Jars

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter and chocolate chips in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir the chocolate mix constantly until it melts.

  2. Slowly add the powdered sugar and evaporated milk.

  3. Increase the heat to bring the sauce to a boil. Stir constantly for 8 minutes. The ingredients must boil together for the sauce to maintain a proper consistency.

  4. Remove the sauce from the heat and stir in the vanilla and salt.
