Can you make ice cream with Silk or generic soymilk?
Ingredients
- 2 cups Silk or generic soymilk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts or fruit (optional)
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the soymilk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1 minute, or until the mixture has thickened.
4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and nuts or fruit, if desired.
5. Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 4 hours.
6. Enjoy your delicious homemade soy milk ice cream!
Tips
- To make a smoother ice cream, strain the mixture before freezing.
- If you don't have a freezer with an ice cream setting, you can freeze the mixture in a covered container and stir it every 30 minutes to prevent ice crystals from forming.
- You can add any flavors you like to the ice cream, such as chocolate chips, mint extract, or coffee extract.
- For a richer ice cream, use half and half instead of soymilk.
