What is banana sucker?

Banana suckers are vegetative shoots that arise from the rhizome of a banana plant. They are also known as ratoons. Suckers are produced in the axils of leaves and can be either single or multiple. They grow into new plants that are genetically identical to the parent plant. Banana suckers are often used for vegetative propagation of banana plants.
