How to Make York Peppermint Patties at Home
York Peppermint Patties are delicious. The mixture of understated dark chocolatey goodness combined with the exhilaration of pure mint us divine! If you love Peppermint Patties as much as I do, you can learn to make them at home. Follow my directions and you'll be on your way.
Things You'll Need
- 1 Can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk (14 oz)
- 1 Tblsp Peppermint Extract
- 6 Cups Powdered Sugar
- 1 Bag Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (16 oz)
- 1 Hand Mixer
- 1 Large Bowl
- Wax Paper
- Baking Sheet
- Microwave Safe Bowl
- Fork
Instructions
-
Combine in your large bowl, the Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk and Peppermint Extract.
-
Into your bowl, you will add the 6 Cups of Powdered Sugar and beat your mixture on a really low speed until everything is fully blended together.
-
Pull your mixture out of the bowl and knead it so that it forms a 1 inch ball shape.
-
Next, you will place your peppermint balls about 2 inches apart onto a baking sheet. Make sure that you have lined your baking sheet with Wax Paper.
-
Now, you will want to take your hand and flatten each ball into a round, pattie-like shape.
-
Then, you will to allow your patties to dry out. Give them about two and a half hours of air drying time. You will need to remember to make sure that you flip your patties over at the halfway point to give each side an equal amount of drying time.
-
After the time is up on your pattie drying time, you will want to melt your Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips. This can be accomplished very easily in the microwave. Just set the chips in a microwave safe bowl, and heat them for about 2 minutes. Remember, when you're melting your chips, you will need to pop the microwave open and stir them halfway through the cooking time (about 1 minute).
-
Finally, you will use a fork to dip each patty into your warm and creamy, semi sweet chocolate chip sauce. Flip each patty onto another wax paper lined baking sheet, and let them stand at room temperature until they firm up. To speed up the process you can place them in the refrigerator as well. Voila! You're Done!
