Three Milk Cake Recipe
This recipe is for a classic three milk cake, but you can easily adjust the flavors to your liking.
Ingredients:
* Cake:
* 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
* 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
* 3 large eggs
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1 cup whole milk
* Milk Mixture:
* 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
* 1 cup whole milk
* 1 cup heavy cream
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* Optional:
* Whipped cream
* Fresh berries
* Chocolate shavings
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Cake:
* Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
* In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
* In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
* Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined, do not overmix.
* Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
* Let the cake cool completely in the pan before proceeding.
2. Prepare the Milk Mixture:
* In a medium bowl, whisk together condensed milk, milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract.
3. Soak the Cake:
* Once the cake is cool, poke holes all over the surface using a toothpick or fork.
* Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, making sure it soaks evenly.
* Cover the cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
4. Serve:
* Once the cake is chilled, top with whipped cream, fresh berries, or chocolate shavings, as desired.
Tips:
* Use high-quality vanilla extract for the best flavor.
* The cake will continue to soak and soften as it chills, so it's best to make it a day ahead.
* For a richer flavor, use dulce de leche instead of sweetened condensed milk.
* Add a pinch of cinnamon to the milk mixture for a warm, spiced flavor.
Enjoy!
