Why is the cake named Napoleon after Bonaparte?
There is no definitive evidence that the cake is named after Napoleon Bonaparte, but there are several theories. One theory is that the cake was created in honor of Napoleon Bonaparte’s victory at the battle of Austerlitz in 1805, which was known as the “Battle of the Three Emperors.” Another theory is that the cake was created to commemorate the signing of the Treaty of Tilsit in 1807, which was between Napoleon Bonaparte and Tsar Alexander I of Russia. Yet another theory is that the cake was named after Napoleon Bonaparte because of his love for pastries. Whatever the reason, the mille-feuille cake has become synonymous with Napoleon Bonaparte and is enjoyed all over the world.
