How do you pipe ruffles on a cake?
To pipe ruffles on a cake, you will need a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
1. Hold the piping bag perpendicular to the cake, with the tip about 1/4 inch from the surface.
2. Start piping by gently squeezing the bag and moving the tip along the edge of the cake.
3. As you pipe, gradually increase the pressure on the bag and move the tip closer to the cake. This will create a ruffled effect.
4. Continue piping until you reach the desired length of the ruffle.
5. To create a second layer of ruffles, repeat steps 1-4, starting about 1/4 inch above the first layer of ruffles.
6. You can also create different variations of ruffles by varying the size of the star tip and the pressure applied to the piping bag.
