How to Prevent Berries from Molding
Nothing ruins fresh berries quicker than the unsightly, and unhealthy, growth of mold. Caused by mold spores on the surface of the berries at the time of picking, moisture speeds up the growth of mold, which is why you'll usually see recommendations not to rinse berries until you're ready to use them. Using a vinegar rinse can help prevent premature molding.

-
Use a vinegar and water rinse to extend the shelf life of berries by removing the mold and bacteria spores from their surface. Immerse the berries into a solution of 1 cup of white vinegar diluted with 3 cups of cold water. Rinse the berries in fresh water in a colander, then use a salad spinner lined with paper towels to thoroughly dry the berries. Store the berries in the refrigerator in a container lined with paper towels to absorb extra moisture. You may be able to keep your berries for more than a week with this method.
