Where do avocados grow?

Avocados are native to Central America and have been grown in Mexico for over 10,000 years. They are now cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions around the world, including California, Florida, Hawaii, and South Africa. Avocados grow on evergreen trees that can reach a height of 60 feet. The trees produce small, creamy-green flowers that bloom in clusters. The flowers are pollinated by bees and other insects, and the resulting fruits develop over a period of several months. Avocados are ready to harvest when they turn a dark green or purplish-black color.
