My freezer had door open for one week everything was defrosted cooked and uncooked food is anything savable?
Cooked Food:
* Meat, Poultry, and Fish: Discard all cooked meat, poultry, and fish. These foods are highly perishable and can become unsafe to eat if left unrefrigerated for an extended period.
* Dairy Products: Discard all dairy products, including milk, yogurt, and cheese. Dairy products are also perishable and can become unsafe to eat if left unrefrigerated for too long.
* Eggs: Discard all eggs. Eggs are also highly perishable and can become unsafe to eat if left unrefrigerated.
* Leftover Foods: Discard all leftover foods, including soups, stews, casseroles, and other prepared dishes. Leftover foods can become contaminated with bacteria if left unrefrigerated for too long.
Uncooked Food:
* Meat, Poultry, and Fish: If the meat, poultry, or fish is still frozen, it may be safe to eat after it has been cooked thoroughly. However, if it has thawed or is no longer frozen, it should be discarded.
* Vegetables and Fruits: Discard all uncooked vegetables and fruits. Vegetables and fruits can become contaminated with bacteria if left unrefrigerated for an extended period.
* Bread and other Baked Goods: Discard all bread and other baked goods. Bread and other baked goods can become moldy if left unrefrigerated for an extended period.
Tips for Preventing Freezer Failure:
* Keep your freezer door closed as much as possible. Cold air escapes every time you open the freezer, causing the temperature inside to rise.
* Don't overload your freezer. A packed freezer can prevent cold air from circulating properly, causing food to thaw.
* Keep the freezer temperature at 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below. This is the ideal temperature for keeping food frozen solid.
* Unplug your freezer during a power outage. This will help to keep the food inside frozen for as long as possible.
* Have your freezer serviced regularly. A qualified appliance repairman can check for any problems that could cause your freezer to fail.
