Substitutes for Freezer Paper
Freezer paper, or butcher's paper, is an excellent material for storing meats and other foods in the freezer. The paper is thick and durable keeping the quality, flavor, and nutrition of the food intact. If you do not have any freezer paper, there are a few alternatives that are equally effective.
Aluminum Foil
-
Aluminum foil is another great wrapping material. It withstands hot and cold temperatures and is an excellent material for warming foods or freezing them in the freezer. Foil also prevents the loss of moisture in foods while they are freezing.
Plastic Wrap
-
Plastic wrap is great for storing foods in the refrigerator or the reheating foods. Also can be used for short storage in the freezer but will not prevent moisture loss as well as freezer paper or aluminum foil.
Wax Paper
-
Wax paper has a coating of wax that makes it prevent moisture loss. This makes it an excellent material for pastries and freezer paper substitute. The wax can act as an adhesive however, so it can cause some sticking to foods, especially sticky pastries.
