What can you substitute for fresh Thyme?

Here are some common substitutes for fresh thyme:

- Dried thyme: Dried thyme is the easiest and most common substitute for fresh thyme. It has a more concentrated flavor than fresh thyme, so use about 1/3 of the amount of dried thyme that you would use fresh.

- Oregano: Oregano has a similar flavor to thyme, but it is slightly more pungent. Use about 1/2 the amount of oregano that you would use fresh thyme.

- Marjoram: Marjoram is a close relative of thyme and has a similar flavor, but it is milder and sweeter. Use about the same amount of marjoram as you would fresh thyme.

- Basil: Basil has a slightly sweet and peppery flavor that can be used as a substitute for thyme in many dishes. Use about 1/2 the amount of basil that you would use fresh thyme.

- Rosemary: Rosemary has a strong, pungent flavor that can be used as a substitute for thyme in some dishes. Use a very small amount of rosemary, as it is much more potent than thyme.

When substituting dried herbs for fresh herbs, always remember to adjust the amount you use, as dried herbs are more concentrated than fresh herbs.
