How to Grill Romaine Lettuce
Grilled vegetables serve as an appropriate side dish for grilled meats and seafood. They can also be used in salads or eaten on their own as part of a light meal or snack. Grilled romaine lettuce has a short preparation and cook time and involves only a few simple ingredients, making it ideal for large cookouts and budget-conscious eaters. After it is grilled, romaine lettuce has a crunchy texture and a subtle charred flavor.
Things You'll Need
- 4 romaine lettuce hearts
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Pepper
- 8 tsp Parmesan cheese
- Grill
- Tongs
Instructions

Heat the grill. Cut the romaine lettuce hearts in half lengthwise. Brush each half with olive oil and sprinkle salt and pepper on them according to your taste preferences.

Place the romaine lettuce halves with the cut sides face down one the heated grill. When the lettuce hearts begins to char, use a pair of tongs to gently flip them over. Apply 2 teaspoons of Parmesan cheese over the top of each piece and continue grilling.

Remove the lettuce from the grill once the leaves begin to wilt. Serve immediately while hot.
