How to Attach a Meat Grinder to an Electric Motor
You can attach a manual meat grinder to an electric motor with an inexpensive conversion kit. Cranking a meat grinder by hand for a few hours can prove difficult and can slow productivity. The electric motor inside a drill provides enough power to turn the handle while meat is fed constantly into the grinder. The drill motor, combined with the conversion kit, will optimize your manual grinder and ramp up your production capabilities.
Things You'll Need
- Manual grinder converter kit
- 3/8-inch electric drill
- Drill chuck wrench
- Electrical outlet
Instructions
-
Mount the manual meat grinder to the edge of a countertop or sturdy table. Remove the screw holding the handle on. Pull the handle off and set it aside, along with the screw.
-
Press the correct number conversion kit into the position vacated by the handle. The conversion kit must be compatible with the meat grinder model. Most meat grinder converter kits have finger-twist bolts that require no tools.
-
Position the electric drill between the conversion kit stabilizer bars, with the handle farthest from the grinder. Tighten the chuck down onto the protruding post. Plug in the drill and start it at the slowest possible speed until you are sure it is operating properly.
