What to Do With Leftover Spiral Ham?
Although you can use your leftover spiral ham to make delicious sandwiches, there are other creative ways of using the ham. You can also combine your leftover ham with some ingredients you already have in your pantry.
Breakfast Side Item
-
One idea is to use the ham as a side item for breakfast. You can fix some blueberry pancakes, heat up the ham and pour some maple syrup on top of it, and serve some baked grits with cheddar, gouda and gruyere cheeses to go with the ham and pancakes.
Jambalaya
-
If you like Cajun cuisine, you can put some of the leftover ham in a popular Louisiana rice dish called jambalaya. This dish is made with andouille or smoked sausage, chopped celery, onion and garlic, diced green bell peppers, tomatoes, tomato paste, cayenne pepper, hot sauce and sometimes cooked chicken. The ingredients are placed in a large skillet or pot filled with two cups of water and then the jamabalaya simmers for thirty minutes.
Lima Bean Salad
-
If you have lima beans and other vegetables in your pantry, you can put the spiral ham in a lima bean salad. In a medium bowl put the lima beans, ham, tomatoes, green beans, spinach or peas and a few tablespoons of olive oil along with a few drops of lemon juice. For seasonings add a little salt, lemon-pepper and garlic powder.
