How to Fry Thinly Sliced Ham (4 Steps)
Although the name may amuse your children, frizzled ham is a seriously tasty dish. This crispy breakfast food begins with the thinnest slices of ham you can make. The heat from the pan combined with the thinness of the meat create a sweet and crunchy bacon-like dish that goes well with eggs, pancakes, waffles or any other morning meal. Watch the pan closely when making frizzled ham; the trick is to cook it very hot and very quickly.
Things You'll Need
- Very thin ham slices
- Nonstick frying pan
- Tongs
Instructions
-
Place a nonstick frying pan on the stove. Heat the pan over medium-high heat.
-
Check to see if the pan is ready by dropping two or three drops of water into the pan. If the water sizzles and dances around, the frying pan is hot enough.
-
Place extremely thin slices of ham into the pan with tongs. Only cook a few slices at a time so you don't crowd them together in the pan.
-
Turn the ham slices over after about 30 seconds. Allow the ham to brown and curl up in the pan. When the surface begins to get crispy and the edges are curly, the frizzled ham is ready to serve.
