How do you get melted plastic off of cast iron pots and pans?
There are a few ways to get melted plastic off of cast iron pots and pans:
1. Use a razor blade or putty knife to scrape it off. Be careful not to damage the metal.
2. Use a heat gun to melt the plastic and wipe it off. Be sure to use a low setting so you don't damage the pot or pan.
3. Use a chemical stripper to dissolve the plastic. Be sure to follow the directions on the product label carefully.
4. Freeze the pot or pan and scrape off the frozen plastic. This method may be useful for thick layers of melted plastic.
5. Use a plastic bag filled with ice and baking soda. Place the ice and baking soda in a plastic bag and rest it on the melted plastic. As the ice melts, the baking soda will form a paste that will help to remove the plastic.
6. Use a commercial cleaner. There are a number of commercial cleaners available that are specifically designed to remove melted plastic from metal surfaces.
Once you have removed the melted plastic, you may need to season the pot or pan to restore it to its original condition.
