The Bakewell tart is a traditional English tart originating in the town of Bakewell in the county of Derbyshire, England. It consists of a shortcrust pastry shell, filled with jam and frangipane, and topped with a lattice of pastry strips. The tart is believed to have been created in the early 19th century by a local cook named Mrs. Greaves.
