How to Bake With Non Stick Pans (6 Steps)

Are you trying to reduce fat in your diet? Have you considered eliminating greasing your baking pan with lard or butter? You worry about food sticking to the pan of course. But using some bakeware that is coated with a thin layer of non-stick material allows you to bake food without greasing the pan, and the food doesn't stick.

Things You'll Need

  • Non-stick pan
  • Meal ingredients
  • Metal cooking utensils
  • Stove/oven
  • Soap

Instructions

  1. Prepare the food you are baking according to recipe. Whether you are baking cookies, muffins or cakes, you can use the recipe you've always used.

  2. Choose the appropriate non-stick pan for the food you are baking. Non-stick pans come in variety of sizes and shapes. Thin cookie-sheets, muffin tins and Bundt pans are some examples of non-stick bakeware from which you can choose.

  3. Place your ready-to-bake food in your chosen non-stick pan and bake according to recipe. Avoid using non-stick vegetable oil spray as it interferes with the non-stick coating of the bakeware.

  4. Avoid using metal utensils with your non-stick pans. Use plastic, rubber or wood utensils to avoid scratching the non-stick coat.

  5. Wash your non-stick bakeware with soap and water and dry completely before storing. Don't use metal scouring pads. Dishwasher detergents can cause the non-stick coating to deteriorate.

  6. Line the inside of non-stick bakeware with paper towels or other liners when stacking pans in cabinet.
