How to Make Quick and Easy Pancake and Waffle Syrup
A base for a basic pancake or waffle syrup can be made at home with brown sugar, butter and water. This recipe makes about 1 ½ cups of syrup. The syrup should be served warm, and any unused syrup needs to be refrigerated immediately.
Things You'll Need
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1/2 tsp. maple flavoring
Instructions
-
Combine the brown sugar, butter and 1 cup of water in a medium size saucepan.
-
Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture comes to a boil.
-
Remove the syrup from the heat, then stir in the maple flavoring. Let the syrup simmer for 3 to 5 minutes. The syrup will continue to thicken as it cools. If the syrup is too thin, stir in more brown sugar or heat the syrup for another 2 minutes.
