Ice cubes melt quickly on a frying pan?
Ice cubes will not melt quickly on a frying pan. In fact, they will remain frozen for a longer period of time due to the Leidenfrost effect. This is a phenomenon that occurs when a liquid comes into contact with a surface that is significantly hotter than its boiling point. The liquid instantly vaporises and forms a layer of insulating vapour between itself and the surface, preventing further rapid heat transfer. This effect is commonly seen when water drops dance on a hot skillet. Therefore, ice cubes placed on a frying pan will not melt as quickly as they would at room temperature.
