How do you know if eggs are feritlised?

Fertilized and unfertilized eggs can be distinguished by a small, white spot on the yolk of a fertilized egg. This spot, called the germinal disc, is the first sign of embryo development. It can be seen if the egg is held up to a strong light. If there is no germinal disc, the egg is unfertilized.

Another way to tell if an egg is fertilized is to look at the chalazae, the two thick, white strands that attach the yolk to the shell. In a fertilized egg, the chalazae will be twisted and coiled, while in an unfertilized egg, they will be straight.

Finally, fertilized eggs may have a slightly more opaque appearance than unfertilized eggs. If you are still unsure whether an egg is fertilized or not, you can crack it open and look for the germinal disc.
