Is nutmeg considered a tree nut?
Nutmeg is not considered a tree nut. Although it is called a "nut," nutmeg is actually the seed of an evergreen tree called Myristica fragrans.
True tree nuts come from nut-bearing trees such as walnuts, almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, pecans, pistachios, macadamia nuts, and Brazil nuts.
