What fruit is really a vegetable?
This is a bit of a trick question! The answer depends on how you define "fruit" and "vegetable."
Botanically speaking:
* Fruit develops from the ovary of a flowering plant and contains seeds.
* Vegetables are any other part of the plant, like roots, stems, or leaves.
By this definition, all fruits are technically fruits, including those we often consider vegetables.
Culinarily speaking:
We often use the term "vegetable" for savory foods, and "fruit" for sweet foods. This is where it gets tricky.
Tomatoes, avocados, cucumbers, and even pumpkins are all technically fruits, because they come from the plant's ovary and contain seeds. But we typically use them in savory dishes, so we consider them vegetables in our everyday language.
So, there's no one "fruit" that's definitively a vegetable! It all depends on how you're classifying them. 😊
