What is the recipe for cabbage black eye peas and hog jowl?
Ingredients:
* 1 pound dried black-eyed peas
* 6 cups water
* 1 pound smoked hog jowl
* 1 tablespoon salt
* 1 teaspoon black pepper
* 1 small head of cabbage, chopped
* 1 onion, chopped
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 teaspoon dried thyme
* 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
* Hot sauce to taste
Instructions:
1. In a large pot, combine the black-eyed peas, water, hog jowl, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 hour, or until the black-eyed peas are tender.
2. While the black-eyed peas are cooking, prepare the vegetables. Chop the cabbage, onion, and garlic.
3. In a large skillet, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened. Add the cabbage, thyme, and red pepper flakes and cook until the cabbage is wilted.
4. Add the cooked vegetables to the pot with the black-eyed peas and hog jowl. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
5. Season with hot sauce to taste. Serve hot with cornbread or rice.
