How to Eat Boiled Eggs (4 Steps)

Eggs have a multitude of benefits. They’re inexpensive, an excellent source of protein and delicious. And though they’re often thought of as a sit-down breakfast food, when hard- or soft-boiled, eggs can even be convenient. After boiling, the shell remains on the egg until it is removed, providing a natural barrier for a mess-free snack. Although the shell is edible, however, it is usually not eaten. Learning how to eat a boiled egg is not a difficult task to accomplish.

Things You'll Need

  • Boiled egg

Instructions

  1. Hold the boiled egg in your hand. If it is too hot to handle, run it under cold water or refrigerate for several minutes.

  2. Crack the shell by tapping the egg on a hard, flat surface, such as a counter top, desk or cutting board.

  3. Remove the pieces of shell with your fingers or a spoon. The hard white pieces should come off as well as the thin, transparent membrane between the shell and the egg.

  4. As long as the shell is removed, there's no wrong way to eat a boiled egg. Go ahead and take a bite, slice it and serve on a bed of lettuce or chop it into an egg salad.
